Leather Patchwork Rug

This extremely unusual all leather patchwork rug is made to order. Absolutely stunning and hard wearing, this is a rug that gets better with age as the leather becomes more 'worn'. It is made from engrasado leather, a term used to describe the vegetable tanning process that is used in many quality Argentine products. 

The particular rug photographed is made with rectangular patches of leather and is hand stitched together. It measures 1.4 x 1.8m, with individual rectangular panels of 5cm x 20cm. The square panels are expertly sewn together by hand. It is backed with a high quality canvas material that will reduce the risk of the rug slipping. The rug itself is heavy as the leather is a minimum of 5mm thick throughout so slipping/ ruckling is not a problem.

We custom make these rugs at a rate of £445 per square metre. This means that you can decide upon any size and shape and patch design to suit any room, plus add borders if necessary.
